PowerPlay Compression Therapy

The PowerPlay system combines the benefits of compression and cryotherapy (ice) to help settle pain and swelling in acute injuries. 

Why Use Compression Therapy?

For decades physios have been advocating compression and ice therapy for acute injuries and swelling management.  PowerPlay is a system that we have experience with, and we find particularly useful for our patients.  We don’t want this to sound like an informercial for a product, but we do think it is a useful adjunct to supplement your recovery.

RICE, Right?

Following acute injury and surgery, the advice has long been: Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate.  Compression therapy physio using PowerPlay allows us to maximise the use of compression and cryotherapy.  This helps to limit excessive swelling around the site of the injury, improve movement, decrease pain, and assist with recovery.  Ultimately, we think it helps you recover better, and get back to the activities you love!

How Do We Use Compression Treatment At The Movement Centre?

If you are seeing us for an acute injury or post-op physio, then we may use the PowerPlay as part of your session.  We use it on top of regular treatment and exercise to help settle any inflammation around the injury.   The unit takes about 3 minutes to set-up, and generally lasts for 15 minutes.

Alternatively, we offer shorter PowerPlay specific appointments for a much cheaper rate.  We encourage our post-op physio patients to come in much more frequently in the first few weeks post-surgery to go through their exercises in the gym, and then jump on the machine.  If you are looking for PowerPlay in Randwick – come and see us, or give us a call at The Movement Centre.
